On July 1st, the 23rd batch of Chinese medical teams sent by our province to aid Gambia set off in Shenyang and went to Banjul, the capital of the Republic of Gambia, to carry out a one-year medical assistance mission. There are three doctors in Dalian with the team to carry out assistance tasks. They are Jiao Yang, deputy chief physician of neurology department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, Chen Guang, deputy chief physician of trauma and orthopedics department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, and Qiao Fei, deputy director of Hope Square Ward of Children's Orthopaedic Neurosurgery Department of Dalian Women and Children Medical Center (Group).
The Liaoning Provincial Health and Wellness Commission attaches great importance to health foreign aid work, resolutely implements the work arrangements of the National Health and Wellness Commission and the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, actively coordinates the forces of all parties, and completes the 23rd batch of Chinese medical teams to aid the Gambia in February 2025. The 10 members of this medical team were jointly selected by nine units, including the First Affiliated Hospital, Shengjing Hospital and Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital and Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, the Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shenyang First People's Hospital, Dalian Women and Children Medical Center (Group) and China Medical University, covering nine specialties including internal medicine, general surgery, orthopedics, critical care medicine, obstetrics and gynecology. All the team members have completed the three-month comprehensive ability training and assessment before going abroad. They will continue to devote themselves to helping the Republic of Gambia improve its medical service ability and level in an all-round way. At the same time, they will focus on training local medical staff and leave a "medical team that can't be taken away" for the recipient countries.
Liaoning Province, as one of the provinces that undertake more national health foreign aid tasks, has sent 110 batches of 2,483 medical team members to Yemen, Kuwait, Albania, Gambia, Micronesia and other countries.
