On June 3rd, 2025, the screening ceremony of "Seeing China, Foreign Youth Image Project, Liaoning Tour" was held at Xishan Lake Theater of Liaoning Normal University.
2025 "Seeing China, Foreign Youth Image Project, Liaoning Tour" was sponsored by the Institute of International Communication of Chinese Culture of Beijing Normal University and the Huilin Culture Fund of Beijing Normal University, and hosted by the School of Film and Television Art of Liaoning Normal University. Ten foreign young directors from six countries, including Russia, Britain, Italy, Ecuador, Sri Lanka and Madagascar, were invited to shoot and create in Dalian for 15 days. The theme of the activity is "Creativity, Ideaand Creation", and the topics of the works cover many aspects, such as urban history, marine culture, island ecology, non-legacy folk customs, seafood food, agricultural and fishery products, etc. With youthful enthusiasm and exotic surprise, 10 directors strive to dig out urban stories and interpret urban culture, show different Dalian to the world, and convey the innovative vitality and spiritual atmosphere of Chinese culture.
As a well-known brand of cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, "Seeing China's Foreign Youth Image Program" has invited 1,100 young people from 102 countries, including Brazil, the United States, Canada, Britain, France and Italy, to complete 1,041 short films and win 197 international awards, becoming an important window for the world to understand China. Since 2014, Liaoning Normal University has hosted the activities of "Seeing China, Foreign Youth Image Project, Liaoning Tour" four times, and received 26 foreign young directors from 14 countries (or regions) including Britain, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Argentina, Sweden, Peru and Brazil.
As one of the components of the cultural exchange section of Dalian's "International Open Month", young people from many countries go deep into the streets and lanes of Dalian to create, integrating elements such as intangible cultural heritage and coastal culture into images. In the future, the results of the project will go global through international film festivals, online communication and other channels, further enhancing Dalian's cultural soft power on the international stage.
During the event, it coincided with the symposium on deepening strategic cooperation between Liaoning Province and "double first-class" universities. Liaoning Normal University and Beijing Normal University signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on the spot at the university strategic cooperation exchange promotion fair. Starting from the "Looking at China" activity, the two universities will focus on strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the fields of personnel training and team building, discipline construction and scientific research, social cooperation and service, etc., and jointly promote the high-quality development of both sides' undertakings.
