At present, there is no direct container route to North America in Dalian Port, and the trade between enterprises in the hinterland of Northeast China and the United States mainly passes through ports such as Busan and Singapore in South Korea. "From the port data, the annual container throughput of Dalian Port through transit to the United States is in the range of 170,000 to 180,000 TEUs, accounting for a small proportion of the overall business, and the direct impact is limited." The person in charge pointed out.
Except for direct steel exports to the United States, which only account for about 0.1% of Dalian Port's total throughput, hinterland steel mainly goes south to East and South China through Dalian Port's domestic trade channel, and is processed and assembled into finished products such as mechanical and electrical appliances and then exported. "Direct steel exports have a limited impact on Dalian Port, but the turmoil in the industrial chain caused by the obstruction of finished product exports may have a secondary impact on Dalian Port through transmission mechanisms such as the decline in domestic trade demand for steel," the person in charge analyzed.
In terms of imported grain, American soybeans account for 20% to 25% of the total soybean imports in Dalian Port. The person in charge said: "As U.S. soybeans lose competitiveness in terms of price, this part of the market gap is expected to be filled by supplies from Brazil and Argentina, which will have little impact on Dalian Port overall."
At present, some foreign trade enterprises in the hinterland have begun to develop non-American overseas markets, which may bring opportunities for Dalian Port's route encryption and layout optimization. The person in charge said that Dalian Port will pay close attention to market and policy trends, and invest in encryption of advantageous routes or development of emerging markets.
Since the beginning of this year, Dalian Port has successively opened four foreign trade routes, upgraded direct flights to Central and South America, and developed sea-rail combined transport with high quality, driving container throughput in the first quarter to increase by 5.1% year-on-year. At the same time, mining and construction materials, petrochemicals and other cargo types have also achieved business growth, and port production has maintained a steady and progressive trend.
The person in charge said that Dalian Port is expected to continue its current steady growth trend in the second quarter. In terms of ports, we will further strengthen macro-situation judgment and market analysis, respond to changes and advance layout, focusing on channel optimization, transit distribution, port competition, port value-added, business innovation and other dimensions, and take multiple measures to promote high-quality port development, so as to respond to external uncertainty with our own certainty.
