The spring scenery is beautiful, and it's the right time to read. On the eve of the 30th World Book Day, the 16th National Reading Festival in Dalian was launched in an all-round way. With the theme of "Scholarly Dalian-Decisive Victory in the New Era of Reading and Building a Chinese Chapter", this National Reading Festival adopts a combination of online and offline methods to extensively carry out various reading activities and invite citizens to share the reading feast.

On the morning of April 19th, the launching ceremony of the 16th National Reading Festival and Reading Market in Dalian was held in Fangcaodi, Dongguan Street, Xigang District. The launching ceremony was co-sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Education Bureau, the Municipal Culture and Tourism Bureau, the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Communist Youth League Committee, the Municipal Women's Federation, the Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Municipal Social Science Association, the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation, Dalian News Media Group and Dalian Cultural Industry Group, and undertaken by the Propaganda Department of Xigang District Committee and Dalian Xinhua Bookstore Co., Ltd. At the launching ceremony, the organizers introduced the situation of this National Reading Festival, started the blind box drifting of books, presented awards to the winners of the essay contest of "Green Bookmark Action", awarded licenses to the citizen reading space of "Scholarly All Over Xigang Disctrict", and launched the promotional films and theme songs of this reading festival. At the launching ceremony, a reading market incorporating cultural and creative elements and intangible cultural heritage elements was also held. On that day, relevant units in various regions held their own unique reading activities for the whole people, including holding a new book sharing meeting of "Resources of the foods" in Xinhua Bookstore Book Building, holding a flash activity of cultural post station in Xinggong Street subway station, holding a friendship activity with the theme of World Book Day in Dalian Store of Northern Book City, and holding a children's reading activity of "Children's Reading Dalian, Scholarship Growing Up" in Dalian No.44 Middle School.

In recent years, Dalian has conscientiously implemented the decision-making arrangements of the party and the state on reading for all, gradually strengthened the infrastructure construction of reading for all, constantly improved the working mechanism of reading for all, extensively integrated the resource advantages of various departments, fully absorbed the participation of various social forces, and continuously increased the supply of reading products and services. The construction of "Scholarly Dalian" has achieved fruitful results and bright spots, and the role of reading in enhancing citizens' cultural literacy, strengthening people's spiritual strength and highlighting the soft power of urban culture has become more prominent. Dalian has held 15 consecutive National Reading Festivals, holding more than 1,000 reading activities every year. The Book Building of Xinhua Bookstore in Dalian has been awarded the "Most Beautiful Bookstore of the Year" at the first national national reading conference, the bookstore administrators Ren Fusheng and Kui Yulan have been awarded the national "Rural Reading Model", and the farmer's bookstore in Ershili Village, Jinpu New District has been awarded the national "Most Beautiful Farmstore". More than 50 people won the "Top 4 readers", "Excellent reading promotor" awards in the province's reading festival, etc., created the brands including the Dalian City Party staff member's book activity, "Guardian Imagination in Hundreds of Families and Schools" in campus, "Away from internet games, coming into bookstores, and Cultivating Virtue and Knowledge" of' Dalian City Middle and Elementary School Student Moral Practical Activities, “Create the future with the books” theme reading activities, “Colorful Books, Bright the Childhood'' activities, “Book recommendation to show the ambition” article Activities, “Sharing the books across the cities” reading marathon activities and so on. This National Reading Festival will start from April and last until the end of the year. It focuses on four themes: content supply, reading promotion, demonstration and guidance, benefiting the people and facilitating the people, and carry out 148 main activities, including the reading activities of party members and cadres in Dalian in 2025, “reading hundreds of classics and being a happy teacher” reading activities, “reading in the study room and tour in Dalian” reading activities, “creating a learning organization, striving to be a knowledge-based worker” reading festival, “making friends with books” reading and blind date and writers entering the campus activities, “reading in families” parenting reading activities, promoting digital reading for the disabled, “Children reading”, “Reading city”, and “2025 City Library Series Reading Activities and Library Service Publicity Week” activities. At the same time, the reading market will be carried out on a regular basis, and idle good books will flow through trade-in and exchange of old books. Dalian Xinhua Bookstore Huimin Book Fair, "Reading for All" series of book fairs, postal Huimin Book Tour Exhibition, etc. will also be launched one after another, and all kinds of best-selling books will be sold at a preferential rate.
