The Second City Children's Folk Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage Talent Show Competition Concluded

Passing on the torch, the charm of folk art flourishes. On December 20th, under the guidance of the Dalian Federation of Literary and Art Circles, sponsored by the Dalian Folk Artists Association, co-organized by Dalian Changshengwan Food Co., Ltd. and folk artists associations of various districts and counties, and supported by the Dalian Intangible Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, the finals of the "New Shoots in the Folk Art Garden"-the Second "Changshengdao Cup" Children's Intangible Cultural Heritage Master Showdown in Folk Art Forms in Dalian successfully came to an end.


Compared with the first event, the coverage of this year's event has been further expanded, attracting nearly 200 young contestants from various districts and counties. The children, aged from 6 to 16, showed off their talents in various folk art forms such as allegro, comic duets, cross-talks, storytelling, Shandong clapper ballads, Xinjin drum music, and Northeast drum music. After the selections and competitions in sub-regions including the city-center area, Pulandian, and Wafangdian, a total of 38 programs and 75 contestants advanced to the finals. The scale of participation, the quality of the programs, and the proportion of original works have all significantly improved, demonstrating the vibrant inheritance ecosystem of children's folk art in Dalian.


On the final stage, the young contestants presented a series of original masterpieces that kept pace with the times and were close to real life. The cross-talk "The Fun Battle of the Masters" was full of witty remarks, combining traditional cross-talk techniques with modern popular elements. The Fuzhou Northeast drum music "Red Scarves Gathering under the Red Flag" skillfully integrated traditional singing styles with contemporary narratives. The group allegro "Counting the Best" conveyed positive energy with its sonorous rhythm... The program contents were both rooted in tradition and full of contemporary flavor, fully demonstrating the creative transformation and innovative development of folk art among teenagers.


The final invited the famous folk art performance artist Wang Min and well-known local folk art masters to form a jury, which conducted a comprehensive evaluation from multiple dimensions such as the content of the works, performance skills, and stage presentation. Eventually, the best performance awards, excellent performance awards, and qualification awards were selected for the youth and children's groups, and the original work awards and excellent screenplay-writing awards were also presented. Meanwhile, organizational awards were given to schools and training bases that performed exceptionally well in this event, aiming to encourage more social forces to participate in the inheritance and popularization of folk art in schools.


This event has built a dazzling stage for the city's children to showcase their talents, experience intangible cultural heritage, and inherit culture. A new generation of folk art talents has emerged, and traditional art has regained its vitality in the voices of children. This is not just a competition but also an open-class on folk art aesthetic education, allowing more citizens to feel the unique charm of traditional folk art.
