Recently, according to the Municipal Health Commission that the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Geriatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, the Department of Medical Imaging and the Department of Hematology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, and the Department of Cardiology of the Central Hospital Affiliated to Dalian University of Technology (Dalian Central Hospital) have successfully been approved as the "National Key Clinical Specialty Construction Projects for 2025". So far, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, a total of 21 national key clinical specialties (including construction projects) have been newly added in our city, and the cumulative total of those awarded has reached 36.

The National Key Clinical Specialty Construction Project is a crucial measure to promote the connotation construction of disciplines and enhance core competitiveness. It is also a concentrated manifestation of the comprehensive strength of medical technology and service management in a region. The national key clinical specialties are the superior clinical specialties representing China's medical technology and management level, selected by the National Health Commission according to the needs of medical and health development. They are characterized by strong medical service capabilities, high technical quality levels, and strong scientific research and teaching abilities, representing the highest level of advanced medical technology and service capabilities in the country. To accelerate the construction of a "Healthy Dalian", build a strong city in health, promote the high - level development of medical specialties, and build a high - quality and efficient medical and health service system, our city launched the "Peak - climbing Plan" for key medical specialties in 2021. Under this plan, 30 specialties of municipal - owned hospitals in the city were selected as construction projects.
