According to National Healthcare Security Administration, on December 1st, the national medical insurance officially launched the inter-provincial direct settlement service for five outpatient chronic and special diseases related treatment expenses, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, rheumatoid arthritis, coronary heart disease, viral hepatitis and ankylosing spondylitis.
This is another medical insurance benefit after the expenses of five outpatient chronic and special diseases, such as hypertension, diabetes, outpatient radiotherapy and chemotherapy for malignant tumors, uremic dialysis, and anti-rejection treatment after organ transplantation, are directly settled across provinces and accessible to the county. Up to now, all medical insurance co-ordination areas across the country can provide 10 kinds of inter-provincial medical insurance direct settlement services for outpatient chronic and special disease-related treatment expenses as medical places.
In September this year, the National Healthcare Security Administration and the Ministry of Finance issued the "Notice on Steadily and Orderly Expanding the Scope of Inter-Provincial Direct Settlement of Outpatient Chronic and Special Diseases", clarifying that five new outpatient chronic and special disease-related treatment costs including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease will be included in the scope of inter-provincial direct settlement, and before the end of December 2024, the state will organize all coordinating regions to uniformly launch inter-provincial direct settlement services for outpatient chronic and special diseases.
According to reports, after the insured person has completed the identification of chronic and special disease treatment in medical insurance outpatient clinics according to the regulations of the insured place, he can log in to the National Medical Insurance Service Platform App, and click "More Inquiry about Medical Treatment in Different Places" under "Inquiry Service" in the service area of "Filing in Different Places"-"Door Slow Special Notice" to learn about the inter-provincial direct settlement policy and settlement process of treatment expenses related to chronic and special diseases in outpatient clinics in the insured place.
