On March 1, Chinese President Xi held talks with Belarusian President Lukashenko, who is on a state visit to China, in the Great Hall of the People.

Xi pointed out that in September last year, we jointly announced in Samarkand that we would upgrade the positioning of China-Belarus relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership, which injected strong impetus into bilateral cooperation in various fields. This year is the first year for China to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. China's high-quality development and modernization process will bring new opportunities to all countries in the world including Belarus. Facing the unstable and uncertain international situation, China is willing to work with Belarus to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations at a high level.

Xi emphasized that China-Belarus friendship is unbreakable, and both sides should constantly enhance political mutual trust and unswervingly be true friends and good partners of each other. China highly appreciates Belarus's firm support for China's legitimate position on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Hong Kong and human rights. The two sides should firmly support each other's chosen development path, support each other in safeguarding their core interests, oppose external forces interfering in internal affairs, and safeguard the sovereignty and political security of the two countries. It is necessary to give full play to the role of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee of the two countries, expand economic and trade cooperation, build a good China-Belarus Industrial Park, take the joint construction of "the belt and road initiative" as the main line, and promote cooperation in the construction of interconnection and intercommunication between China and Europe. It is necessary to deepen medical and health cooperation, expand local cooperation and close people-to-people exchanges, so as to make China-Belarus friendship more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

Xi pointed out that the world is facing unprecedented changes in a hundred years, and there is a long way to go to safeguard world peace and development. China and Belarus are common defenders of international fairness and justice. China appreciates Belarus's support for global development initiatives and global security initiatives, and is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Belarus in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations to jointly meet global challenges and work together to build a community with shared future for mankind.

Lukashenko once again warmly congratulated the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China on its successful convening, saying that President Xi is deeply supported by the Chinese people and enjoys high prestige in the world, and I deeply admire him. I firmly believe that under the strong leadership of President Xi, China will continue to achieve new brilliant achievements. The hearts of the Belarusian people have always been connected with the Chinese people and will stand firmly with China at all times. Belarus firmly supports China in safeguarding its core interests, and firmly supports and actively participates in the "the belt and road initiative" initiative, global security initiative and global development initiative put forward by President Xi. Belarus is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of science and technology, industry, agriculture and tourism, promote the construction of China-Europe line and Belarus-China Industrial Park, welcome Chinese enterprises to invest in Belarus, and strengthen local and people-to-people exchanges. China is the mainstay of safeguarding world peace. Belarus is willing to strengthen cooperation with China on major international and regional issues and work together to maintain international and regional security and stability. The two heads of state also exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis and other issues. 　 pointed out that China's position on the Ukrainian crisis is consistent and clear, and China's position paper on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis has been issued. The core of China's position is to persuade peace and promote talks. We should adhere to the direction of political settlement, abandon all Cold War mentality, respect the legitimate security concerns of all countries, and build a balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture. The countries concerned should stop politicizing and instrumentalizing the world economy, and really do things that are conducive to a ceasefire and a peaceful solution to the crisis. Lukashenko said that Belarus fully agrees with and supports China's position and proposition on a political solution to the Ukrainian crisis, which is of great significance to resolving the crisis.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly signed the Joint Statement of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus on Further Developing the All-weather Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Two Countries in the New Era, and witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of economy, trade, industry, agriculture, customs, science and technology, health, tourism, sports and local areas.

Before the talks, Xi held a welcoming ceremony for Lukashenko in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People.

When Lukashenko arrived, a 21-gun salute was fired in Tiananmen Square, and the salute soldiers lined up to pay tribute. The two heads of state boarded the reviewing stand, and the military orchestra played the national anthems of China and Belarus. Lukashenko, accompanied by Xi, inspected the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and watched the separation.

After the talks, Xi hosted a welcoming banquet for Lukashenko in the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
