Mineral resources
Dalian is rich in mineral resources, with 44 kinds of minerals and 350 mineral sites discovered and proven reserves. Non-metallic minerals are the main minerals, accounting for 83.6% of the total mineral resources. Among them, diamond reserves are 9.01 million carats, accounting for 100% and 49.2% of the whole province and the whole country respectively; Limestone for flux retains 425 million tons of resources, accounting for 38.87% of the province, ranking first in the province; Limestone for cement retains 818 million tons of resources, accounting for 23.96% of the province, ranking second in the province; Limestone for alkali production retains 384 million tons of resources, accounting for 100% of the province; Quartzite for glass retains 141 million tons of resources, accounting for 42.66% of the province, ranking first in the province; The reserve of granite for construction is 92.72 million cubic meters, accounting for 17.51% of the whole province.
Forest resources
Dalian has a total forest area of 4999 square kilometers, a forest area of 4249 square kilometers, a forest coverage rate of 41.5%, a forest greening rate of 50%, and a per capita park green area of 11.3 square meters in the built-up area. Ecological public welfare forest covers an area of 2,755 square kilometers, including 734 square kilometers of national public welfare forest and 2,021 square kilometers of municipal public welfare forest. The natural forest covers an area of 479 square kilometers. The forest types in our city are mainly oak, black pine and black locust, with 4243 square kilometers of arbor forest and 6 square kilometers of special shrub forest.
Marine resources
Dalian has an administrative sea area of 30,100 square kilometers and a coastline of 2,211 kilometers, of which the mainland coastline is 1,371 kilometers long, accounting for 65% of the mainland coastline of Liaoning Province and the island coastline is 840 kilometers long; There are 538 islands, accounting for 85% of the total number of islands in the province, including 40 resident islands and 498 uninhabited islands. There are more than 300 kilometers of deep-water shoreline resources, forming many natural harbors; There are more than 60 beach baths. Marine tourism resources are superior. There are 414 species of marine organisms belonging to 172 families. There are many kinds of economic organisms such as fish, shrimp, shellfish and algae, as well as rare organisms in oceans, coasts and islands, with large resources, especially seafood enjoys high reputation at home and abroad.
Nature reserve
There are 36 nature reserves in Dalian. Among them: 11 nature reserves (4 national nature reserves, 1 provincial nature reserve and 6 municipal nature reserves); 14 forest parks (10 national forest parks and 4 provincial forest parks); There are 3 scenic spots (2 national scenic spots and 1 provincial scenic spot); 4 national marine parks; There are 4 geological parks (2 at national level and 2 at provincial level).
Wetland resources
Dalian wetlands cover a total area of 3,583 square kilometers, including 2,421 square kilometers of offshore and coastal wetlands, 1,043 square kilometers of artificial (reservoir) wetlands, 115 square kilometers of river wetlands and 3 square kilometers of swamp wetlands. Dalian Spotted Seal National Nature Reserve was listed in the list of internationally important wetlands of the United Nations Convention on Wetlands in 2002.
