Introduction of Zhongshan District

Zhongshan District is located in the east of Dalian, with 121.63 east longitude and 38.92 north latitude, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east, south and north, and Xigang District in the west. Historical records began in the Eastern Han Dynasty, which was called "Sanshan", "Sanshanpu" in the early Tang Dynasty and "Qingniwa" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the liberation of Dalian in 1945, five of the 12 districts in the city, namely Central, Heizuizi, Nanshan, Siergou and Laohutan, belonged to Zhongshan District today. In memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the municipal government changed Heizuizi District into Zhongshan District. By 1959, these districts were gradually merged into Zhongshan District, forming today's jurisdiction.

Zhongshan District is the birthplace of Dalian and the central city of Dalian. The land area is 47.41 square kilometers, the sea area is 1443 square kilometers, and the total length of coastline and island coastline is 42.53 kilometers.
