Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, January 17-Premier Li Keqiang had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Scholz in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai on the afternoon of January 17.

Li Keqiang once again congratulated Scholz on his appointment as German Chancellor. He said that China and Germany, both major economies and responsible countries in the world, are supporters of multilateralism and practitioners of free trade. Cooperation between the two countries is not only mutually beneficial to both sides, but also beneficial to China and Europe and the world. China attaches great importance to developing relations with Germany. President Xi Jinping recently had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister to jointly promote the development of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with Germany to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year as an opportunity to further consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen dialogue and exchanges, uphold two-way opening, better achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and promote the stability and far-reaching of Sino-German relations.

Li Keqiang emphasized that the depth and breadth of Sino-German pragmatic cooperation are constantly expanding, which plays the role of "ballast stone" in bilateral relations and brings benefits to the people of both sides. China is willing to hold a new round of Sino-German government consultations with Germany as soon as possible, so that this "super engine" of Sino-German pragmatic cooperation can promote the upgrading of bilateral cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will tap the potential of cooperation in advanced manufacturing, service trade, digital economy and climate change, and foster new growth points for Sino-German cooperation. More than 2,000 Chinese enterprises in Germany and more than 7,000 German enterprises in China are the "new force" of cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese and German governments should devote themselves to creating a fair and non-discriminatory environment for these enterprises to invest in the industry. I also hope that Germany will treat Chinese enterprises with a more open mind. China is willing to continue to make good use of the "fast track" of personnel between the two countries with Germany to better facilitate personnel exchanges between the two sides on the basis of effective epidemic prevention and control.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and the EU are two important forces on the world stage and share extensive common interests. We should grasp China-EU relations from a long-term perspective and from a broader perspective, adhere to the leading aspect of dialogue and cooperation, respect each other and treat each other as equals, and promote the steady and healthy development of China-EU relations. Germany is an important member of the European Union and hopes that Germany will continue to exert positive influence on the development of China-EU cooperation and relations.

Scholz said that Germany attaches great importance to Germany-China relations, adheres to the one-China policy, and hopes to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and China as an opportunity to promote the further development of bilateral relations. Germany is willing to actively prepare for a new round of German-Chinese government consultations with China, further deepen cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, climate change response and epidemic prevention and control, and make full use of the "fast track" for personnel exchanges. Germany has been and will be committed to promoting the healthy development of EU-China relations, and the Greece-Europe-China Investment Agreement can come into effect at an early date.

The two prime ministers also exchanged views on strengthening Sino-German cooperation in multilateral fields and international and regional issues of common concern.

Xiao Jie and He Lifeng attended the above activities.
