On September 18th, the 6th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States was held in Mexico City, Mexico. At the invitation of Mexico, the rotating presidency of CELAC, President Xi Jinping delivered a video speech to the summit.

Xi Jinping pointed out that 10 years ago, with the efforts of Latin American and Caribbean countries to pursue independence and unite for self-improvement, the Latin American Community came into being, which was a milestone in the process of regional integration. In the past 10 years, the Latin American Community has played an important role in maintaining regional peace and stability and promoting common development. China attaches great importance to developing relations with the Latin American Community and supports the Latin American Community in coordinating regional countries to cooperate and meet challenges. In July 2014, leaders of regional countries and I jointly announced the establishment of the China-Latin America Community Forum, which opened up a new way for the overall cooperation between China and Latin America. In the past seven years, the China-Latin America Forum has flourished and has become the main platform for gathering friendly forces from all walks of life in China and Latin America, making important contributions to deepening China-Latin America relations.

Xi Jinping emphasized that after the changes in the international situation, China-Latin America relations have entered a new era of equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness and benefiting the people. China-Latin America friendship lasts forever and is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Since last year, in the face of the sudden novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, China and Latin America have helped each other and carried out all-round anti-epidemic cooperation. China will continue to provide assistance to Latin American and Caribbean countries within its capacity to help regional countries overcome the epidemic and resume economic and social development at an early date. China is willing to work with Latin American and Caribbean countries to overcome difficulties, create opportunities and work together to build a community of destiny between China and Latin America.
