On September 10, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the International Conference on Food Impairment.

Xi Jinping pointed out that food security is a fundamental issue concerning human survival, and reducing food loss is an important way to ensure food security. At present, the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic is spreading all over the world, and food security is facing challenges. Countries around the world should speed up their actions to effectively reduce world food losses.

Xi Jinping emphasized that convening an international conference on food impairment was an initiative put forward by China at the 15th summit of G20 leaders last year. It is hoped that all parties will take this conference as an opportunity to work together to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, contribute to achieving the goals of zero hunger and zero poverty, and make greater contributions to maintaining world food security and promoting the building of a community with shared future for mankind.

The International Conference on Food Impairment opened in Jinan City, Shandong Province on the same day, with the theme of "Reducing Food Loss and Waste and Promoting World Food Security", which was jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Grain and Material Reserve Bureau and the Shandong Provincial People's Government.
