On July 29th, President Xi Jinping and Sierra Leone President Bio exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

 

Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory message that since the establishment of diplomatic ties half a century ago, no matter how the international situation changes, the two countries have always understood and supported each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, and carried out fruitful cooperation in the fields of economy and people's livelihood. Facing the severe challenge of novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic, the Chinese and Serbian people watched and helped each other and fought against the epidemic side by side, showing the brotherhood of sharing weal and woe.

 

Xi Jinping emphasized that I attach great importance to the development of China-Serbia relations and am willing to work with President Austria to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to consolidate friendship and mutual trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and promote the continuous development of China-Serbia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

 

Bio said in his congratulatory message that since Serbia and China established diplomatic ties 50 years ago, the two sides have adhered to the principles of mutual respect, mutual trust, equal treatment and common prosperity, sincere friendship, solidarity and mutual assistance, and carried out good cooperation at bilateral and international levels and achieved fruitful results. Serbia looks forward to making joint efforts with China to further consolidate the traditional friendship between the two countries and deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
