Li Keqiang Telephoned Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan

On the morning of July 16th, Premier Li Keqiang had a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

 

On behalf of the Pakistani government and people, Imran Khan first expressed sincere condolences to the Chinese government on the recent terrorist attack in Pakistan, which caused heavy casualties to Chinese personnel, deeply mourned to the families of the victims, and informed the Pakistani side of the progress of the periodic investigation and the aftermath.

 

Li Keqiang expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for carrying out the treatment of the wounded and the investigation of the accident immediately after the incident. Li Keqiang emphasized that human life is at stake, and the Chinese government attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese citizens and institutions overseas. The urgent task is to spare no effort to treat the wounded, minimize casualties and do a good job in the aftermath of the victims. The Chinese working group has arrived in Pakistan and is willing to cooperate closely with Pakistan. It is hoped that Pakistan will provide assistance to the working group, use all necessary means, find out the truth seriously, responsibly and accurately, and make sure that the perpetrators of terrorist attacks are brought to justice. Li Keqiang hoped that Pakistan would take practical and effective measures to strengthen the security protection of Chinese personnel and institutions in Pakistan and make every effort to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

 

Li Keqiang pointed out that the current international and regional situation is complex and profound. China attaches great importance to China-Pakistan relations. As an all-weather strategic partner, we are willing to strengthen strategic communication and coordination with Pakistan, deepen pragmatic cooperation, safeguard regional peace and security, and better benefit the two peoples.
