On July 9, President Xi Jinping and South Sudanese President Kiir exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory message that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 10 years ago, bilateral relations have been developing healthily and steadily, and cooperation in various fields has been fruitful. The two sides have always firmly supported each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns. After the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia, the two countries joined hands to fight the epidemic, demonstrating the deep brotherly friendship. I attach great importance to the development of China-South Africa relations, and I am willing to work with President Kiir to take the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to consolidate mutual political trust and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields under the framework of jointly building the "the belt and road initiative" for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

Kiir said in his congratulatory message that China is a true friend of South Sudan. As a young country only 10 years after the founding of the People's Republic of China, South Sudan has received real help from China in economic and social development, domestic peace process and fighting novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic. The South expresses its gratitude and appreciation for this. The South looks forward to continuously consolidating the high-level bilateral relations between the two countries and deepening cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
