At 19:58 on April 25th, after 14 hours of continuous operation, E3 pipe joint and E2 pipe joint of Dalian Bay Cross-Harbour Tunnel Project were accurately butted. Based on the construction experience of E2 pipe joint, the construction efficiency of all operation links of this installation has been improved, and the operation time of 14 hours has also set a new record for the shortest floating installation time of cross-sea immersed tunnel in China.

E3 pipe joint is the second standard pipe joint, with a length of 180 meters, a width of 33.4 meters, a height of 9.7 meters, a weight of about 60,000 tons, and a sinking water depth of nearly 30 meters. E3 pipe joint faces some problems, such as deep foundation trench, steep slope, high risk of foundation bed failure, many cross operations in various processes, and great influence from external environment. In order to ensure the smooth floating installation of E3 pipe joint, the project team made scientific arrangements to effectively avoid risks and ensure the timely completion of the construction. At 6:00 on April 25, the tugboat began to form. At 7:15, "Jin'an 2" and "Jin'an 3" towed the E3 pipe joint and set sail on time; After a channel turn, at 8:30, it successfully arrived at the mooring area and started the pipe joint mooring operation. At 14:50, all preparations for sinking the immersed tube were ready; At 19:58, E3 pipe joint and E2 pipe joint were successfully butted.

According to the plan, after the installation of E3 pipe joints is completed, the project team will carry out intensive preparations for the subsequent installation of pipe joints, and accelerate the sprint towards the goal of installing ten pipe joints within the year.
