On November 9, President Xi Jinping and Lebanese President Michel Aoun exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory message that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Lebanon, bilateral relations have developed steadily. China-Lebanon cooperation in various fields is deepening day by day, and they understand and support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, setting a good example for large and small countries to treat each other as equals and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. I attach great importance to the development of China-Lebanon relations, and I am willing to work with President Orn to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to consolidate mutual political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and push China-Lebanon friendly and cooperative relations to a new level. China will continue to provide help and support to Lebanon in fighting the epidemic, developing the economy and improving people's livelihood.

Orn said in his congratulatory message that since Lebanon and China established diplomatic ties 50 years ago, the two countries have carried out constructive cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields. Lebanon thanked China for supporting Lebanon's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, supporting Lebanon's just cause and supporting Lebanon in fighting the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic. Li Fangzhen values its relations with China, speaks highly of China's development achievements, and looks forward to further strengthening Lebanon-China cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples.
