Xi Called to Congratulate Fumio Kishida on His Election as Japanese Prime Minister

On October 4th, President Xi Jinping sent a telegram to Fumio Kishida to congratulate him on his election as Japanese Prime Minister.

 

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Japan are separated only by a strip of water, and developing good-neighborly friendship and cooperation between China and Japan conforms to the fundamental interests of the two countries and their peoples, and is also conducive to peace, stability and prosperity in Asia and the world. China and Japan should abide by the principles established in the four political documents of China and Japan, strengthen dialogue and communication, enhance mutual trust and cooperation, and strive to build Sino-Japanese relations that meet the requirements of the new era.

 

On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang sent a congratulatory message to Fumio Kishida on his election as Prime Minister of Japan, saying that both sides should maintain political consensus, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations along the correct track, and jointly greet the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan next year.
