In recent days, dozens of citizens listened to the science popularization lecture made by Wang Xiaoping, one of Dalian’s ten environmental protection people in 2016 as well as the key promoter to upgrade Liaoning Snake Island Laotie Mountain National Nature Reserve into the “international level” when they visited the exhibition on “Exploring Snake Island” in Dalian Natural History Museum.
The exhibition on “Exploring Snake Island” has been co-hosted for the first time by Liaoning Snake Island Laotie Mountain National Nature Reserve and Dalian Natural History Museum. Since the “June 5” World Environment Day, a total of 20,000 citizens have come here to visit until yesterday.
As the first nature reserve at national level in the environmental protection system and also the first member of the UNESCO world biosphere network units, Liaoning Snake Island Laotie Mountain National Nature Reserve consists of Snake Island and Laotie Mountain and is well-known at home and abroad for more than 20,000 gloydius shedaoensis dwelling on nearly 1 square kilometer.
The exhibition on “Exploring Snake Island” displayed the development course of Liaoning Snake Island Laotie Mountain National Nature Reserve in an all-round way. The visitors can learn about the formation of Snake Island and the living habits of gloydius shedaoensis, the unique geological features of Snake Island, the old pictures of natural reserve, snake hunting tools and the specimen like snakes, birds, insects and plants. The exhibition will last until July 5. In the next two Sundays, the experts in the Reserve will deliver excellent lectures on gloydius shedaoensis and Laotie Mountain to visitors.
