Tan Chengxu met with Japanese guests who came to participate in the tourism promotion meeting

On August 23rd and 24th, Mayor Tan Chengxu met with Miyagi Prefecture Governor Yoshihiro Murai, Akita Prefecture Governor Takahisa Satake, Yamagata Prefecture Governor Mieko Yoshimura, Niigata Prefecture Governor Hanazumi Hideyo, Aomori Prefecture Deputy Governor Sukeharu Aoyama and Iwate Prefecture Deputy Governor Yasutaka Mamoru. Vice Mayor Hao Ming and Secretary-General of the Municipal Government Yi Qingtao attended the meeting.

Tan Chengxu welcomed the Japanese guests and introduced the economic and social development of the city. He said that local exchanges and cooperation are an important part of Sino-Japanese relations and an important channel for promoting non-governmental friendship between the two countries. For a long time, Dalian and the northeastern region of Japan have maintained extensive and in-depth exchanges in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, culture, education, health, tourism, agriculture, etc., and carried out fruitful cooperation and achieved positive results. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Peace and Friendship and the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening up. Dalian is willing to further strengthen exchanges with Japanese local governments under the framework of China-Japan relations, deepen cooperation in relevant fields, and promote friendly exchanges between the people. It is hoped that through the successful holding of this tourism promotion event, the scope and field of cooperation between Dalian and Northeast Japan will be further expanded, and more pragmatic results will be achieved.

Japanese guests said that there is a huge space for cooperation between the northeastern region of Japan and Dalian. It will take tourism as a link to actively promote economic and trade exchanges and non-governmental exchanges between the counties in northeastern Japan and Dalian, and explore cooperation in a wider field and deeper level, so as to make positive contributions to the healthy and stable development of Japan-China relations.

At the meeting, Hanazumi Hideyo also handed over to Tan Chengxu a personal letter from Toshihiro Nikai, the Secretary of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and the honorary citizen of Dalian.
