Xi Jinping Talks with Pakistani President Alvi

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Pakistani President Alvi in the Great Hall of the People on the 17th.

Xi Jinping stressed that at present, the Chinese government and the Chinese people are striving hard to win the final and all-round victory in the fight against novel coronavirus pneumonia. At the beginning of the epidemic, Mr. President wrote to me in the first place to express his condolences. This time he made a special trip to China to express his firm support for China. The Pakistani government and all sectors of society have given everything they have to donate epidemic prevention materials to China, for which China is deeply grateful. Facts have proved once again that China and Pakistan are true friends and good brothers sharing weal and woe. The special friendship between China and Pakistan is a historical choice and is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples.

Xi Jinping pointed out that at present, the epidemic situation is breaking out in many places around the world. All countries should help each other in the same boat and join hands to fight the epidemic. China has always adhered to the concept of a community of human destinies, released epidemic information in a timely manner and shared prevention and treatment experiences in an open, transparent and responsible manner. China is willing to make more contributions to prevent the spread of the epidemic worldwide and will continue to provide support and assistance to Pakistan.

Xi Jinping stressed that it is the common wish of the two peoples to consolidate and develop the all-weather strategic partnership between China and Pakistan. We welcome Pakistan's unity, stability, prosperity and strength. No matter how the international situation changes, China will always stand firmly with Pakistan and is committed to deepening the "hard-core" friendship between China and Pakistan, so that China-Pakistan relations can become a model for building a community of human destiny and better benefit the two peoples. China will continue to support Pakistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and support Pakistan in following a development path that conforms to its national conditions. The two sides should maintain the tradition of regular exchange visits and meetings between leaders, actively promote cooperation in key areas and projects, and turn the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor into a demonstration project for the high-quality development of the "the Belt and Road Initiative". We should strengthen communication and cooperation in international and regional affairs and jointly safeguard world and regional peace, stability and security. China is willing to continue to provide support to Pakistan in controlling the plague of locusts.

Alvi said that under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has achieved significant positive results in fighting the epidemic. On behalf of the Pakistani government and people, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations. In the face of the disaster, the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government showed outstanding leadership and strong mobilization. The Chinese people unite as one and are not afraid of sacrifice. China's experience and practices provide useful reference for other countries. I believe China will be stronger after the epidemic. Attempts by individual forces to use the epidemic to "stigmatize" and isolate China are unpopular and will not succeed. Pakistan and China are "die-hard" brothers sharing weal and woe. The friendship between the two peoples is profound and has grown stronger over time. The more difficult the time is, the more Pakistan-China friendship and unity will be shown. Pakistan thanks China for its support and help and is willing to stand firmly with China to overcome the difficulties. Pakistan will, as always, support China on issues involving China's core interests and is willing to maintain close contacts with China, deepen cooperation and build a good Pakistan-China economic corridor. Pakistan will continue to promote anti-terrorism cooperation with China and jointly safeguard fairness and justice in the international arena.

After the talks, the two heads of state witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents.

The two countries jointly issued a joint statement on deepening the all-weather strategic partnership between China and Pakistan.
