Dalian Central Hospital Rehabilitation Medicine Department Gained Excellence Award in the First National Dysphagia Rehabilitation Skills Competition

From July 12 to July 14, at the just-finished annual conference of Chinese Association Of Rehabilitation Medicine dysphagia rehabilitation committee, the finals of first national dysphagia rehabilitation skills competition was held. Dalian central hospital team including physician Wang Xiaofeng, therapist Li Yongzhi and head nurse Xin Yuying, attended the finals of “Nestle Health Science Cup” skills competition as the second place in northeast competition area. 19 first-class representative teams from competition areas of southern part, eastern part, central part, northeast, northwest and southwest attended this national dysphagia rehabilitation skills competition. Through intense competition in knowledge contest and PPT typical cases demonstration, Dalian central hospital team finally gain excellence award as tied-for-seven place.

Besides, in the exchange forum of outstanding papers, the academic paper “Application Value of Electron-Nasopharyngolaryngoscopy in Dysphagia Patients Caused by Acute Stroke” jointly completed by Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Department of Rehabilitation gained the third prize. In 2015, with the great support and cooperation of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dalian central hospital became one of the first units applying electron-nasopharyngolaryngoscopy to the evaluation of dysphagia. It has already implemented evaluations on over 200 cases. The paper explained the application value of electron-nasopharyngolaryngoscopy in dysphagia patients caused by acute stroke in detail and demonstrated the advantages of Dalian central hospital in technical evaluation and application of dysphagia.

The honor was due to the support and assistance of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the daily efforts and accumulation. Through the skills competition and exchanges of annual conference, it shall face and analyze shortcomings and take this opportunity to make more efforts on dysphagia rehabilitation, so as to make more achievements.
