On June 13, mayor Tan Chengxu met with Fujio Mitarai, the honorary president of Japan Economic Association, the representative of Canon Co., Ltd. and honorary citizen of Dalian, and his party, who came to attend the Canon Cup Japanese Speech Contest and other activities. Tan Chengxu welcomed Fujio Mitarai and his party's visit and introduced the city's economic and social development and economic and trade cooperation and exchanges with Japan. He said that as early as 1989, Canon Co., Ltd. invested in Dalian to establish Canon Dalian Office Equipment Co., Ltd., followed by Canon Machinery (Dalian) Co., Ltd., Canon Medical Devices (Dalian) Co., Ltd. and other enterprises.
 
It was worth mentioning that while these enterprises were developing and growing, they were actively giving back to the society, devoting themselves to public welfare undertakings, and contributing to 6 hope primary schools in Dalian for many years. The Canon Cup Japanese Speech Contest has made many Japanese talents stand out, providing a talent guarantee for economic and trade cooperation and non-governmental exchanges between Dalian and Japan. He hoped President Fujio Mitarai would continue to care about and support Dalian's opening-up and development, promote exchanges and cooperation between Canon Co., Ltd. and Dalian in more fields, and promote more Japanese enterprises to invest and develop in Dalian so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win.
 
Fujio Mitarai said that as an honorary citizen of the city, he was happy with the development and changes in Dalian. Practice had fully proved that Canon Co., Ltd. was right to invest in Dalian. They would further expand their business scope in Dalian and actively promote Dalian to Japanese enterprises so as to make more contributions to Dalian's economic and social development.
